For my tubular chair design I drew a lot of influence from a bean bag. Something that is very organic in shape and comfortable to sit in. I wanted to create a chair form that would look very unique from different angles as well.
For my building process I started out with a sphere. I rebuilt the form and turned on the control points to manipulate it to get the curve that looked comfortable. From here I used contour in the front window to get the curves that I wanted. I then put a half inch pipe around these curves and then added two more pipes perpendicular to the curves to hold the whole form together. I then used booleanunion to bring them all together.
For the material I chose black aluminum. I like this material because of the shine and strength it has. With the shape that I chose it is crucial to have a material that is very stiff and strong.
