Nicole Corlett : Week 10 USB Drive

Here is my USB Drive.  I used fillets and offset surface for most of it.  Some other commands I used were split and sweep.

Nicole Corlett : Week 9 Waffle Lamp

For this project I decided to use the pipe method instead of grasshopper to layout my notches.  After rendering my final product, I found out I made the notches double, so I re laser cut the pieces to double everything up to give it a thicker profile.  Making this model, I made it in 2d with rhino and extruded it to a third dimension for it's renderings.  Using the onsnaps and various other methods, became very important in this lamp to notch it correctly.  I used orienttocurve when laying my pipes.

Nicole Corlett : Week 8 Bibendum Chair Study

I decided to recreate the Bibendum chair and really attempted to emphasize the upholstery on it by slightly deforming each circle before using the sweep 2 command.  A lot of rebuilding was done to add extra points to be able to manipulate the chair in how I wanted it to look before rendering it in Keyshot. There are about 25 naked edges I can't seem to get rid off and as I showed up on Saturday to get some extra help, I could not find Prof.Scott... :( So here is what I ended up with.  Also, I used 2d orthographic drawings and picture frame to help with scale and accuracy.

Christina Byun : week 7 sunglasses

this is my sunglasses design concept, i named it as 'Sungreen', which is from sunglasses + green. sounds like green sun, but it is actually make cool filling to wear this sunglasses because sun is hot but green gives cool feeling. for my design, i was thing to create something fashionable and covers sunlight well. i personally like big sunglasses therefore the frame of the sunglasses is big and i add some details on the side, and inside of the sunglasses, i used different colors to give contrast and more fancier. i focused on my original sketch to keep the main idea and tried to develop exactly same. and i did.

My best friend and I have had many conversations about the significance of this part of the Lord's Prayer, which we say often. She focuses on the part that says, "Lead us not into temptation," while I focus on the part, "But deliver us from evil." Together it is a powerful phrase for us, reminding us constantly of what we believe in, stand for, and were raised by. This ring poses as a reminder if our minds ever wander off their path. In Keyshot I used Platinum and Chrome for materials.

Ring for Print
I sent the ring above to Shapeways and they were having major issues with the size of the letter walls so I decided to go with something else I briefly made and have wanted. Park Lane Jewelry created a version called the Unite Ring.
The design looks like it does not make sense but when all three are put together, they elegantly unite into a single form.

Nicole Corlett : Week 6 Old (new) Thumb Ring

I decided to create this thumb ring based on a thumb ring I used to have.  Though the old one got me in school suspension one time, I truly miss it and would love to have it again.  I used Rhino to re create my old new ring and it couldn't have turned out more perfect!
I used commands in Rhino to grab the coordinates of the rings surface, and flattened my surface out to build my Celtic knot design, cleaned it all up, then I used FlowtoSurface to re apply it to my ring base.

This mouse was inspired by an original design, built to avoid constant bent wrists. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a serious threat to those who use computers for extended hours of the day. In Keyshot I focused on clear plastic for the body and hard opaque plastic for the pipes.
