Fabio Bonacquisto: Week 10 scan

Scan

 Render

Render 2

For this 3D scan I wanted to make a tiny object that looked beat up and battered so when I put it into rhino it would has a cool looking surface texture. I made a tiny fencing sword and tried to give it the look as if it's a relic from the past and just recently found and polished. The handle is made from wood and the hand cover is made from brass, the actual blade is made from steel.

My inspiration for making this camera was I hate when you try to take a panoramic picture and the majority of the time you mess up because some one moves or you mess up with the camera. With the Adidas 360 sport your pictures will come out perfect the first time. It has 8 cameras which go off at the same time when using the touch screen timer/ controls, also you can choose which cameras you want to take a picture with as well as set them at different intervals.

The design is circular so you can get the full 360 shot at once with 8 cameras. It has 8 bumpers as well just in case it falls because its a camera for outdoors. With its retractable storing legs it can grow to 7 feet tall for high up panoramic photos. It has a touch screen as its controls and uses wifi or blue tooth to connect to the internet or your hand held device.

While creating this I used the blend command multiple times, also array and boolean commans came in handy. For key shot i wanted to stay simple with a black and while color scheme. The bumpers are made from a molded rubber while the frame is made from a tough plastic while can either be a non reflective surface or a shiny reflective surface depending on the users preference. The camera frame is 8inches long and the height goes from 5inches to 7feet tall.

Fabio Bonacquisto: week 8 Chair

 Key shot

This is my lazy wood chair, it's made from wood leather and steel. I wanted to make a chair that was symmetrical as an outer form but asymmetrical with its supports. I used Pipes for the frame not because I wanted the user to get their limbs stuck in the chair but because I wanted a frame that was able to breathe because I am the type of person who gets hot easily. The cushions are made with leather because it's a good material that gets cold easily when indoors and always keeps me cool. The metal studs on the bottom are for people who like to scratch/ massage their feet while sitting. The design of the leg rest is made so that your legs are not too high or too low. personally when I have my legs up high I tend to fall asleep easily especially during a movie, but at the same time I want my legs up so I can relax. Having no head rest was on purpose because the user is now free to stretch his neck/head over the top of the frame to get a good stretch in the neck, my brother does this a lot so I am assuming other people do this as well.

Fabio Bonacquisto: Week 7, Lamp

 Ghosted

 Off

On
For this project I didn't really know what I wanted the lamp to look like, all I knew is i wanted to make something I would like putting up in my room. While creating the lamp I made about 20+ different styles until I found the one I liked the most. I ran into many problems because well, I was being sloppy so this simple object took longer then it should of. When using key shot I used materials that I would like to use for the real one but the one I'm making in real life is all wood. So in the render I used hard plastic and wood with a plastic finish on it to give a good reflection of the light. I chose a green light because my favorite color is green and that's the color light i will use on my real lamp.

Renderpassing

This design was inspired by the game gears of war (http://gearsofwar.xbox.com/en-US/AgeGate?source=%252f) from the cogs in the game. My junior year of high school i made this same design out of wax to lost wax cast it in silver, sadly the mold had bubbles and my piece exploded while casting. I wanted a kinetic piece which could be worn around the neck. This one is specifically made for my brother which is why it has mine and his initials on it.

The techniques I used were chamfering, fillet, boolean, bend, and offset, I may have used more but those were the most important. The bend tool came in handy when making the chain for my render. the chamfer tool helped create the perfect edges i wanted for the cogs. When renderpassing I only used 3 layers; I made one which had strong shadows on a white shape, one with just the normally rendered for with the right materials, and the last one with just a super shiny metal color all around to give great reflections.

I used, aluminum for the inner most and outer most cogs. Brass was used for the middle cog and the bail(part that holds the chain). The rod in the middle is steel and so are the bumpers that keep the cogs from touching. I used aluminum because it is cheaper then steal and if kept clean looks just as good.

Fabio Bonacquisto: week 5 Glasses.

These are my Opti glasses, they are made for comfort and focus when running, biking, working out ect. Personally I like headphones that wrap around my ears and that causes a problem when wearing sunglasses and being active. With this design ears are not needed and the bands work with some tension to keep on your head. The side keep dust from sliding in on the side which happens a lot in the suburbs when people are doing their lawns. The band is made from carbon fiber and the back pad is leather. The top part of the lens cap is made from a smooth plastic.

Fabio Bonacquisto: week5 glasses sketches

These are my OPTI glasses, they are made for comfort and focus when running, biking, working out ect. Personally I like headphones that wrap around my ears and that causes a problem when wearing sunglasses and being active. With this design ears are not needed and the bands work with some tension to keep on your head. The side panels are a lighter tint of glass than the front lens so you still have peripheral vision when being active and they keep dust from sliding in on the side.

Naked edges

This is the happy happy drive, meant to keep you and your files happy.
Making this was tricky, way more tricky then it should of been, i had to work through a lot of naked edges. I used off setting more on this one then the bottle and a lot of boolean tools instead of trimming out things. (just my personal preference). i used a rubber trim for high impact, a dark tinted aluminum for the metal and hard plastics for the other details.

For this design I wanted it mainly to solve a problem I always have. I always loose my dryer sheets, but with this design its impossible to loose them because they are attached to your laundry detergent. Creating this bottle was easy especially using offsetting and sweeps together. The bottle is made out of hard plastic, glass, rubber, and its filled with laundry detergent of course.

Fabio Bonacquisto: Week3 mouse

 Keyshot 1

 Keyshot 2

Ghosted

This mouse is a pressure activated mouse because personally when I used a wireless mouse I always forget to turn it off. So I chose to make one where it would not start until you pushed the top pad down and it turned off when you removed your hand. The tool i used the most was loft, on the inside of the mouse and the outside.

Fabio Bonacquisto: week3 Hammer

For this hammer I made a sledge hammer. I was aiming to create the feeling of a cartoony type of hammer mixed with the feeling of a dangerous weapon. I used the fillet tool for the hammer head and handle while I used the chamfer tool for the spikes at the bottom and the triangles up top.
