Mike Noto: Ring Model

^ This model is updated to 3D print. The gem has been removed so that I can attempt to inlay a real piece of soapstone into the physical model.

This was my first attempt at printing the ring. I would like to go back and scale up the ring slightly and reprint it in wax with a much higher level of detail compared to the ABS plastic.

I'm having an issue with this raised section (the part that is Turquoise in the render) I would like to offset the top surface inward so I could make the gem inlaid. I Tried offsetsrf, scale, scale3d, and a few other commands but nothing is working for me. I'm really unsure how to go about it since it curves on all 3 planes.

I also cannot fillet the wood portions (reference render) or even booleon union them to adjacent surfaces. I believe that if it is left as it is, the ring will not print.

I could not make the render 17 x 11, instead it is 17 x  9.56 at 150 DPI. It seems the proportions are
constrained and I cannot find a setting to change it.

I also think I'm doing something wrong with the Make2D command, there are a few lines missing.

Mike Noto: Camping Tent

These are the two views that I scanned in to build my tent model off of. There is a top and side view.

Final Rhino model in ghosted view.

Modeling details.

Finished model, color coded by layer to help with both modeling and rendering.

After deciding to build a camping tent model, I was inspired by Caterpillars for the form and colors.

Mike Noto: Detergent Bottle

I'm still having an issue with adding the threads to the inside of the cap. My boolean difference fails with every attempt.
WIP 2/2/2013: I still need to figure out the threads on the cap and finish the bottom of the bottle.

Mike Noto: USB

This is my USB Model, I had some issues adding fillets to the side details.

Mike Noto: Assignment - Hammer

I translated the materials of my mouse into my hammer model but was less successful in changing its shape to a more organic form.

Mike Noto: Assignment - Mouse

My mouse design was inspired by manta rays and geared towards a higher retail market, which determined its materials of mahagony, steel, and clear plastics.

Mike Noto: Assignment 2/3 - Flashlight/Ducky

I ran into an issue with my flashlight model while I was trying to boolean and clean up the model. I wanted to union two objects, however the needed to be on seperate layers due to materials for rendering. No matter how many ways I tried I wasn't able to make it work.

A practical 24k Gold flashlight.

I tried to give my duck a little more attitude since the previous eyes made him look cross-eyed.

Awww yeeeeah.
