Isabella Pineda: Week 8 Tubular Chair

For this project I wanted to create a simple design that had a twist to it. I created the frame on which the seat rests using curves and then sweep 1 with a rounded rectangle so I could get the filleted edges right away. I then created another curve for the seating part. I mirrored it and created a surface using the sweep 2 command. I then offset the surface to give it dimension and create a solid. I then boolean unioned everything together and filleted the remaining edges. In keyshot I used polished oak and polished steel because I wanted to give it a shiny look that would make the soft curves everywhere stand out. This seat is very ergonomic because you can rest your neck and legs around the curves on the bottom and top.

  1. Excellent work. Your renderings do not clearly express the connection between the wooden element and your tubular steel framework. A small thing, but perhaps I am missing something.

    1. should I do a rendering which shows the connection better? or should I change something in the model?

  2. Do you realize that the seat could be created in the same manner as the framework. using the sweep 1 command. again good work.
