Benjamin Osborn - Week 7 - Lamp
When I first started to see past student work, my favorite projects were the square ones. They all have that really clean look, a lot of them look like they were inspired by Japanese lanterns. So was I. I wanted really like clean straight lines. I wanted to create as many horizontal lines as I could to make the bulb less visible, while still letting a lot of light out. When I was looking at past work I noticed horizontal ribs create more attractive shadows then vertical ribs.
While Modeling this I used project to create my curves, and I used a series of project, split and boolean differences to create the notches. While in Keyshot I choose shiny black and white plastics to give it interesting reflections.
