Lily Karatzas: Week 6 Ring Project

I was inspired by ancient Egyptian Cartouches (Cartouche being an oval surrounding the name of a member of the royal Egyptian family in hieroglyphics). However, instead of hieroglyphs in my model I placed gem stones. The techniques I used to this piece were the ellipse curve shape followed by the offset tool and crv2view to create an oval bent in a half circle. Then the oval was lofted and extruded. I used booleandifference on a sphere to create the gem stones and a torus shape with booleandifference to create the settings. Lastly, I used the flow along curve tool to make the final shape. In Keyshot I chose titanium for the metal of the ring as it is a very strong metal and a slightly darker color than silver. I added small diamonds and sapphires in a pattern to the gem stones. Lastly, I rendered my entire ring in passes on Keyshot and Photoshop and added a gradient background.
