Marc Fleischmann - Week 2: Flashlight

I wanted my flashlight to have an ergonomic design that fits in your hand easily, so I designed the middle part of the light in a flowing, tapered shape. I created this shape by rebuilding the original curve and by adjusting the new control points. I didn't want to have an extraordinary futuristic or special shaping, it should still be recognized as a flashlight. To make it a little more outstanding I chose materials that you probably would not expect on a flashlight. Most parts of the body are made of titanium, in the area in the middle I combined leather and wood, two natural materials to achieve some contrast to the more industrial looking metal. The switch on the back side is made of leather as well. Also the leather is supposed to improve the grip on the flashlight. During this project I learned a lot how to create solids and surfaces by manipulating the basic drawings for them. The rebuild and fillet command where most useful for this project.
The last pictures show the model prepared for the 3D printer.
