UPDATE: Changed material assignment on tail and side buttons from clear grey plastic to hard grey plastic. Also changed lighting on all Keyshot Renderings.
For my computer mouse, I designed the "Neon Sting" which is a wireless mouse modeled after a stingray. While I used the trackball tutorial method for creating my mouse, I still wanted to challenge myself and create a unique, multi-functional design. When researching computer mice for inspiration and influence, I came across many types of mice shaped like recognizable objects or animals which really caught my attention. I included a USB drive that fits inside of the mouse and created neon lights for the back and eyes using hard plastic. Along with hard plastic, I also used shiny white plastic for the bottom of the mouse, side buttons, and tail. Mold tech was used for the track wheel and aluminum was used for the USB insert. When I modeled my mouse in Rhino, I used a lot of the boolean difference and fillet edges commands to create spaces for the eyes, buttons, and USB. I also experimented with the Split command which made it possible to model different buttons and parts of the mouse in different colors and materials on Keyshot. For the lighting in Keyshot, I adjusted the direction and brightness to make the brighter neon colors of the mouse pop and seem more intense.
