Claire Puginier: Week 2: Flashlight
The concept for this flashlight developed from the idea that I wanted to be able to use the flashlight flexibly, while still being able to utilize both my hands. As such, this flashlight can be fastened to an accessory that is sized to fit around the user's forearm (currently mine, the arm straps being at 2.4 inches at their widest point). The arm straps themselves are made of soft touch material for higher user comfort. The fixture at the bottom of the flashlight is made of rubber and provides a tight fit in the metal teeth of the platform cavity. The ridges on both elements give the user the possibility to rotate the flashlight to the desired angle, or remove it entirely with ease. I chose to use dark wood for the flashlight sleeve, along with highly polished metal for the platform to give this pragmatic tool an element of elegance and finesse.
