Justin Montan: week 8 Tubular Chair
The inspiration for this tubular chair was from a rocking chair designed by Thonet. Many people, including me, enjoy sitting on their porch, and what is a porch without great porch furniture. Do you like sitting on uncomfortable furniture? Neither do I. With this in mind, the design for this classic rocker came together in Rhino. In Rhino, the commands used were curve, to construct the frame structure, extendcurve, to cut the shapes for the cushion, fillet, blend, and more. Experimenting with many different materials, shinny leather came to be my primary material for the cushion, large grain wood for the frame, and a red ruby color for my personal logo. Finally, I thought subtle lighting would fit this modest chair well.
