Paige Roche: The Hard-Rock Glasses

The Hard-Rock Glasses were created by myself but designed by Alex Bilzerian. His designs were developed very well. The orthographics are strong and precise. I had a lot of fun creating these glasses. I added some embellishments within the glasses from his 'attribute studies' within his design sheets, which in opinion gave the glasses a bit of a kick.

In Rhino, I first added the orthographic views and drew the curves from there. Then I projected the curves and used boolean union and boolean difference within the pieces. For the embellished red part on the glasses I projected a box then trimmed the sides, capped it and then grouped it on the sides. The mirroring command was very helpful and necessary with this project. It was too difficult to draw the entire frame using curves so I only drew half then mirrored and joined the pieces.

After talking with Alex, he informed me with the background ideas of his glasses. His glasses are supposed to have an affiliation with The Hard-Rock Cafe. I wanted to stick with a key color scheme which is red, black, and grey. In Keyshot, I used Hard Shiny Plastic for the entire frame, Red Hot Meltdown Axalta for the embellishments on the side, and Glass dense black for the inner glass within the frame. I am happy with how it developed. Thank you Alex for a great design!
