Storm Sampson: Week 5 Glasses

Beginning to draw these glasses was extremely difficult but I knew I wanted a more block design. I was inspired by the Cobra Shop in Los Angeles where they create and sell extremely sketchy pairs of sunglasses that are actually becoming trendy. I thought while making the design it started to look like an alien shape, so I went with it.

Most of my design based around curves from the original drawing. I used the Curve2View common a few times to create a slight curve for the face to smoothly fit into the glasses. I then extruded from a solid to get my thick rimmed sunglasses. I fillet'd the edges in several different spots to get unique curves that gave it an alien shape. 

While rendering in keyshot I wanted to give the glasses an alien slimy color while staying transparent, but have thick black lenses to conceal the eyes. The coolest feature of Alien Vision glasses is the fact they glow in the dark. So you don't only wear these bad boys in the sun, but wear them to a rave if you're feeling wild.
