Rendering in Perspective
This week I designed a ring, directed towards the market of women I gave this ring a simple yet sophisticated design. My inspiration comes from a common looking band that could perhaps be found at Kay Jewelers. What's different about my ring is the missing sidewall, giving full view of the 40 Sapphire gem stones that wrap around the entire product. These sapphire's are accompanied by I strong and stylish Platinum band.
The biggest challenges I faced this week were in the rendering stages. After modeling this ring in Rhino, I brought it into Keyshot where several renderings were taken in different lighting (like a bunch of different photo's). I then proceeded to layer those renderings on top of each other in Photoshop. This is called rendering in passes, a layering rendering system that allows you to control every aspect of your model resulting in a more realistic rendering.
This ring came out identical to my sketches making for a satisfying experience. I know if this ring were to go on the market it would sell, and it would sell well. Although simple, I am confident in this design because not only is it luxurious, sometimes simple is the best way to execute jewelry design.
