The Chordettes is a design based of off the 50's style. It was originally thought out and drawn by Samantha Whitmore before passed on to me to render in Rhino.
I created these glasses by primarily extruded curves. The lens I made by projecting a circle onto a rebuilt spear, lofting those projections, and then boolean spiting out the area at the end of the loft. The mid section of the frame I made through a lot of lofting curves and trimming extrusions. Mostly a lot of trial and error was used for that mid section. Once I had all the individual pieces I connected everything together and filleted them all out.
For the frame I used a metallic paint. I used red and black for the color choices since that seemed to be the classic color choice for glasses in the 50's. Also looking back at the 50s, I noticed they had a lot of polka dots so I thought it would be fun to include that onto the surface. The lens are made of glass and the jewels would ideally be diamonds. However they were not showing up in the rendering very well so I chose a metal to give the same glamorous effect.
