Samantha Whitmore: Winter 2014 ELDS 205 Ring Model
Over the weekend I had the pleasure of being able to go home to New York to visit my family. The reason I went there in the middle of the crazy storm was for my sisters birthday. My inspiration came from her being that she wanted a polaroid camera as a gift. So I took that idea and created into my ring.
I started with the band and making a circle with arc underneath from the center of the circle. Extending the arc lines to a top straight line, extruding both sides making it a solid. For the camera model I created many curves, such as, circles, rectangles, squares, and ovals. Extruding all to the size portion i wanted them and making them a solid. From there I Boolean union them all together and chamfered or filleted the edges.
Being that it's a camera I thought it should be sort of flashy and shinny being that cameras have flashes. I made the band and edges of the camera a copper. Leather is wrapped around the camera so if you were to use it theres grip. I wanted it to resemble as closely and actual to a camera as possible. A gem material is used at the top chamfered edge of the rectangle. Chrome is used for the lens and flash covering, where a soft touch mold tech covers any other open pieces.
