This is my lamp model. My inspiration was a general teardrop shape, which I then modified to fit the look I desired. Again, I like the look of a combination of materials, therefore I chose to use a combination of wood and a clear plastic. The clear plastic I chose so that the light can shine through the structure to a certain degree. Essentially, this lamp can either sit upright on a surface, or hang "upside down" from from the ceiling.
Here is a ghosted image of my lamp, showing that there are no naked edges.
This is another ghosted image of my lamp with layers assigned in order to be rendered in KeyShot.
Here is a KeyShot rendered view of my lamp showing the top, side, and front views. This shows the lamp with the light turned on.
This is another shot of my KeyShot rendered lamp with the light turned on, this time showing a perspective view of my project.
Here is a third KeyShot version of my lamp, this side seen from the underneath side highlighting the hardware of the model. Here you can see the layers laid out, ready to be laser cut.
Here are some photos of my finished lamp. I chose to paint my lamp - the radial pieces I painted teal, and I painted the vertical sections lime green to fit the color scheme of the rest of the furniture in my dorm room.
This photo shows my model with the lights turned off and the lamp light turned on.
This picture shows my lamp turned off, with natural light coming in through the window in my dorm room.
