Sean Mihaly Week 8: Tubular Chair

I decided to take a different approach to this model than many other people took. I wanted to stay away from the typical idea of a tubular chair being one that is made out of metal, so instead I thought of what other pieces of furniture are tubular and came up with a hammock. I used curves to first layout the crisscrossing ropes, then I used pipe to make them three dimensional. I created a separate plane to use as a reference that mocks the dimensions of the hammock itself. I pulled on the control points to make it sag like a typical hammock does, then used orientonsrf in order to make the pipes conform to the same shape as the surface. I then created pillows by booleanunion-ing ellipses and created the blanket by taking a section out of the reference surface and laying it on top of the ropes. For the renders, I chose traditional hammock materials and colors and textures.
