For my lamp I wanted a simplistic spire shape that would balance on points instead of a typical flat surface. To start I made a vase like shape with a narrower bottom and top. I grabbed the contours and sections of this and continued by using the piping method as shown to us in class. The first time I laser cut my lamp I made the mistake of putting my notches on the inside as opposed to the outside. I remedied this by changing which pipes trimmed which shape (vertical or horizontal parts). When the notches were cut I used the "massive unroll" import to lay out the final cuts. I then made the part to fit the fixture. I then laser cut the final model. After all of this I extruded the sections/contours to make the 3D model. In Keyshot my material is cherry, the cord/fixture plastic/paint, and the bulb is glass/light.
Edit: Added original lamp shape and picture of assembled lamp.
