Brett LaCour Week 4 Usb
While modeling my usb I was suddenly inspired by a childhood candy "Pez". For whatever reason I enjoyed the simple rounded rectangular shape and tried to implement that form into my design. the appearance gives a modern aesthetic which I tend to try and replicate in my modeling.
As for the construction, predominantly all of the surfaces are extrusions booleaned together. I union-ed the button into the original rounded rectangle extrusion then filleted til I felt I successfully met my design aesthetic. The offset surface was extruded then union-ed together then to the body of the USB.
I chose a shiny plastic for the body to give a more eye popping feel. I then applied a polished aluminum to the offset surface. And added a splash of an "xray" blue for the connector pieces.
In addition my composition for my posts include one picture without the USB connector showing. I chose to do this to show that the USB would be spring loaded with a push button. I also chose an interesting modern San-serif typeface to coincide with the overall design aesthetic.
