Jessica Demasis: Week 5 Detergent Bottle

For my detergent bottle I wanted to design a container that would be capable of holding a lot of laundry detergent with in it. I also wanted to keep the design similar to the tutorial while not being limited to the same design. Therefore I decided to simply enlarge the form in the middle, allowing for the belly to be more rounded. I also tweaked the overall shape of the body and cap.

The body I made by creating curves and using "sweep2". I then edited it by trimming, blending surface, and Boolean difference out a pipe. The spout of the bottle was made using cylinders, helix, curves, and sweep1. then I used Boolean split on an edited cylinder to make the cap. Finally I offset the bottles original curves and used swee2 to create the liquid in the bottle. Then everything simply had to be filleted.

For the materials I chose to stick with plastics. I figured that plastic would be the most durable and lightweight material to use for this product. I used a shiny clear white plastic for the bottle and a hard clear aqua plastic for the cap. For the liquid I used the water, however I changed the color to match the bottle cap.
