Jace McDill Week 4: Phresh Detergent Bottle

I was largely uninspired with the concept of a detergent bottle so upon research i decided to go with a utilitarian design. There are no frills here, just was is needed to get the job done. A textured cap allows for easy opening and the offset section of the main body allows for a perfect place to put a logo. The Handle is also very ergonomic allowed for a fit custom tailored to the users hand.

The most useful tools that i used were curves and fillets ofcourse, but i also used the offset and sweep2 commands quite a bit. I created the for with curves and sweep2 which allows for very smooth surfaces.
I used the offset command to create the detail on the body and the concave section on the bottom of the bottle. For the threaded section at the top I followed the tutorial which incorporated the helix, orient, sweep2 and pipe commands.

The colors and textures are indicative of other commonly seen detergent bottles. Orange and blue are complementary and i was drawn to the look of this for some reason. I used shiny plastics over rough plastics mainly because i found that the shiny plastics allow for better evocation of form once rendered.
