Kristin leverette

My inspiration for this hammer were female carpenters, not so often are there hammers with added color and texture. I thought the color would add a more playful childlike feeling to the project. Carpentry work is fun and very serious. My goal was to mix the childlike and the adult experience.

To create this hammer I use the lines that were provided with the assignment, instead of creating a straight neck with lines, I used solids; sphere and the cylinder. For the handle on the hammer I used the cylinder solid  and applied the Boolean difference to create the imprints.

The materials used for this project are metal, soft black rough and paint for the solids. I wanted the hammer to have different materials from the standard hammers we see and purchase in retails. Instead of having a metal solid bottom, I went with a soft black rough mesh material.
