Michael Huh: Week 5 Detergent Bottle

Michael D. Huh Winter 2014 Elds 205 Detergent

For this project I chose to keep the shape of this detergent bottle smooth and sleek. I added two caps on the top to give users the choice of detergent they would like to use. One detergent is stronger than the other. I created the back cap taller so when it is in use the bigger cap would not spill over onto the smaller cap.
I used control point curve and created the half shape of the detergent bottle and used edit points on to help move the points around for a more pleasing shape. I than mirrored the half line to create a whole piece and joined them together. I used the same step from before and created a side line. Using sweep 2 I created the 3d shape for this bottle. Using more lines I created the concave shape around the bottle to give it a streamline look. I also used control point curve to created the handle. I added caps and filleted them and all other edges to give a smooth finished look.
For material I used all plastic to go with the plastic theme. Glass seemed to be very pleasing, but in reality glass wouldn't be a reliable material to use for laundry detergent bottles. For the colors I went with blue and green for the environment theme colors and used black to tie everything together.
