Storm Sampson: Week 4 USB

I created this USB design by following the very in-depth tutorial that was on blackboard. I was inspired by every single typical USB cord but rather than creating a cord I made it a junk drive.

I created this design by using several different design techniques. For the first time I worked from an actual image and traced curves around the picture. I liked working from the image because it gave it a more lifelike feeling and size. I extruded several curves and created the body. The most difficult part was projecting the curves on the sides and sweeping them. After sweeping all of the curves, I then individually filleted the edges to give a nice clean smooth look.

While working in rhino I immediately wanted to make an obnoxious colored junk drive. I couldn't count on two hands how many flash drive's i've lost in my lifetime because they're always the same exact color as the computer. So, I went with a neon green that would hopefully catch your attention when leaving a public computer so you wouldn't leave the precious flash drive behind with all your school work. I put two models in because I think it looks nice with the green reflecting off the shiny surface and creates a nice contrast since I went with such a basic design.
