Ailsa Petrie: Week 4 Detergent Bottle

For my detergent bottle I wanted to make a product that had transparency to show how much liquid was left in the bottle. I wanted the surface to be very smooth and ergonomic as well. In the inside of the handle are indents for the fingers.

I used Sweep 1 and 2 to create my bottle and offset surface to make the transparent part. I used spheres and BooleanDifference to create the indents for fingers. The most difficult part for me was the screw top, I used a pipe along a helix to create the thread and BooleanUnioned that. I used extrude and BooleanDifference to remove the handle. I filleted everything I could for a smooth surface.

I used complimentary colors of purple and yellow for my surface so that it would be eyecatching. I used a blue glass material for the transparency area so that there is an illusion of liquid inside. I wanted the cap to be grey as not to distract from the form.
