Savannah Sears: Detergent Bottle Week 4

Ghosted
Rendered

For this project I designed a simple detergent bottle. When designing it, I wanted to keep the design simple and appealing. I also wanted consumers to tell that it is a detergent bottle. Gain detergent bottles inspired me to create this bottle, so I used their color scheme in my design as well.

In designing this project, I started by lofting curves. I then added a planar curve for the bottom. I projected and split a curve on my lofted surface and then blended those surfaces to create the handle. I used the offset command for both the bottom insets and the main inset on the surface. I also used blend surface again to combine these two surfaces. I used fillet for all of my edges. To create the screw spout, I used the helix command as well as boolean difference, boolean union, chamfer, sweep1, as well as others.

For materials for my bottle, I chose plastics. I chose a clear and shiny tangerine plastic for the cap to allow visibility of the helix and tangerine because of the Gain logo. I chose a hard rough bright green plastic for the body of my bottle because most Gain bottles are a bright green. For my blended surface inset detail I chose a bright yellow shiny plastic which is also often seen on Gain bottles.
