My design for this project was influenced by ergonomic and comfortable computer mouses. I sought to create a mouse that would be both aesthetically pleasing as well as easy to use. In doing so i created a round shape which served as the base of my mouse while larger easily reachable buttons provide a convenient hand placement. Rather than have my trackball centered, I placed it to the side allowing it to be controlled by the thumb for right handed individuals.
In building the base of my mouse I primarily used the tools demonstrated in class such as draw curve and loft. Once I had my base I projected my buttons and extruded their curves to create the solids. I used create sphere to make my trackball and finished the work with fillet edges.
Because I wanted this mouse to have a relaxing connotation, I used a blue hue for the body. I chose light oak for the accents in order to give it a more natural organic feel. The split along the middle of the mouse was covered in a black plastic to break apart the two halves visually. I found that the white plastic on the trackball contrasted well with the other materials and did not take away from its aesthetic value.
