Ryan Gillam: Week 3 Hammer

This hammer combines the tradition of pragmatic craftsmanship with a contemporary design aesthetic.  The angular handle reflects the geometrical and linear nature of  a carpenters work.  The head is slightly larger than a normal hammer making it easy for a novice to strike the head of a nail.

On this model I was finally able to get a hold on using the Boolean difference.  I used it frequently while making the hammer.  I also used the sweep 2 and the extrude surface tool.

The choice to use rough titanium over a more polished metal is intended to help present the object as a fully functional tool.  The clear plastic visually helps to make the handle look less bulky.  It's rough texture helps with grip.
