Tim Hardin: Week 2 Duck

Rubber ducks are generally associated with children and bath toys, so that influenced me to create a bathroom product. I was inspired by somewhat similar shampoo bottles that I used as a child, that I thought I could make even more appealing. As a result, I combined the duck and shampoo bottle, and voila.

To create the shapes necessary to make it look like a duck, I had to add control points and stretch generic spheres out. I also projected a few curves on to both the eye to create the pupil as well as the body so that I would be able to extrude that curve to create the interesting bottle shape.

Using keyshot, I thought the duck would be most appealing in its classic rubber duck colors, but used plastic for the material because rubber was not an option. To make it stand out a little more, I used metallic paint for the bottle but kept it with the rubber duck color scheme.
