Tim Hardin: Week 3 Flashlight

My influences for this flashlight were a combination of shiny chains and old roman structures with a twist. I was inspired by luxury good companies that charge 20x the regular price of an accessory to show that I can make just as appealing of a product. The columns and shiny gold parts reflect this.

To execute this design, I started by altering the original flash light curve to add all of the grooves by adding control points and moving them to make the divots. I also employed quite a bit of polar array for both the columns and gold cubes that pop out. To join all of these items into one fluent object, I used a lot of Boolean unions and differences.

To mimic a classy and generally subtle color scheme, I just went with grey, black, and gold. To make the squares pop out more I rendered them as a gold metal.  I used a grey for the cylinder so that it kind of falls into the background and emphasizes the black columns and gold squares.
