Grant Hoskins Week 7: Ring

Grant Hoskins Winter 2014 ELDS 205 Week 7 Ring

My inspiration behind this design was brass knuckles. The main reason for this is because I know these will be 3D printed and I want a set of brass knuckles. I named this design the Blood Crusher. If you look closely, on each knuckle is a letter. All together, they spell CRIP.

I created this model by utilizing several techniques we have learned this quarter. I started the model by bringing in a bitmap image of brass knuckles. I traced the picture with curves and extruded it. Before anything else, I made sure the dimensions were right and that it will fit on my hand. I then oriented text, filleted edges, and a few other tricks to end up with my finished product.

I used several materials in Keyshot. The majority is made of a black chrome. The inner layer in the finger holes is comprised of a rough copper. The letters are made of pure 24K gold baby. That stuff is fresh. Nobody is gonna mess with me carrying these bad boys.
