Marcus Van Gorden- Week 3 Hammer

When I began designing this hammer I wanted to design a hammer that addressed several issues I've had when using hammers in my experience.
I began construction on the hammerhead first wanting to make the striking side oversized so that it would make it harder to miss nails and this strike your finger. I usually use hammers in smaller spaces so I designed it with a shorter neck so you would have more control of the placement of each strike.
I wanted to give the hammer am ergonomic feel to it, so I placed 4 grooves for the users fingers to rest. Lastly I wanted to give the handle a non slip texture so I arrayed a grid of small spheres and then booleaned some of them inwards and some outwards. Finally I filleted all surfaces and repaired my naked edges

When I went to render it I decided that I wanted the shaft to go all the way through the hammer head and I wanted it to be fiberglass because it's lightweight and vibration absorbent properties. I made the hammer head out of rolled steel and added a soft touch material for the grip and painted the textures yellow so they would pop out and match the fiber glass
