Michael Huh: Week 6 Ring

Michael Huh Winter 2014 ELDS 205 Week 6 Ring

For this project I was inspired by mushrooms. I wanted to create something that was free flowing and organic. So I created this simple and rad ring for the people that enjoys rings that are different. This ring is also a great conversation starters and would help spice up an ordinary hand.
I started this ring by using curve and drawing out a ring shape. I then used piping on the curve and created a root/stem like shape for the ring base. For the mushrooms on top I created individual mushrooms and placed them carefully on top. I placed some mushrooms together so it would be less fragile when it is printed. For the rest I used shapes and F10 to help mold the shapes I wanted for the ring.
For the materials I attended to go with 1 to 2 colors, but then changed my idea to multiple colors so the mushrooms would pop out more. I used mostly Axalta for the colors and used metal and gold for 2 mushrooms and the stems. All in all I am happy with the results and cannot wait for the 3d product of this ring.
