Jessica Demasis: Week 6 Ring Model

I came up with a few other ideas before this one. However I didn't find them to be all that interesting. Then I came up with the idea of using an octopus. An octopus has such an interesting shape, I thought it would make for an interesting ring. Running with this idea I eventually came up with the Octoring!

The Octoring is made up of all extruded curves. The octopus I was able to draw out by tracing curves over an image I found. Once I had all my shapes extruded I pieced everything and used fillet to finalize everything. The one exception being the octopus. I tried to fillet the octopus but for some reason a fillet of even 0.001 would make it go crazy.

For the materials I went with a silver for the octopus. A dazzling aqua blue was inserted for the gem behind it. The gem is surrounded by a gold material as are the ring rims that sweep out behind it. In between those gold rings is the same aqua blue material used for the jem.
