Ryan Quinn: Week 3 Ring

For the Design of this ring I intended to make something that i could see myself wearing.  I never wear rings myself, maybe because i never saw one that appealed to me, so i wanted to fix that.  Overall I wanted a clean design with layering that would look almost architectural.
I started my design by drawing half of the ring, then mirroring it, patching, then extruding as a solid.  I copied and pushed that design up.  I then added the bars at the base of the ring and unioned it together, so each piece could be separate when printed. Finally I projected a curve on the top of the ring and and trimmed out the center, and of course a lot of filleting.
I knew when i started to make this ring i wanted to use wood as a material.  I used herringbone  altered a bit through the different options in keyshot.  The two center rings were a bright chrome, to make the rig still have an inner, subdued shine, and to allow the the opening in the top to show through with a shine.  The bars that connect the ring together are a black chrome.
