Tyler Parton / Week 6 / Ring / Infinity Band

I wanted to created a woven shape that would emphasis the malleable quality of the metal. The concept was a wedding band. I Wove in a infinity symbol to give meaning to the ring through design.

I wanted to use precious metals to created the band. I used gold for the infinity ribbon to emphasis its importance. Platinum for the ban for durability. I used silver to for the combined bands. I made for silver bands to show the unison between the two families symbolizing the parents.

The model was created from lines on a UV curve surface. I flowed the curves along the surface I made the UV curve from. I edited the control points until the 1 rail sweeps did not collide and rotated the infinity band cross sections to add interest.

I had issues with getting something this small to come out of the detergent bath in one piece.
I printed the ring 3 times before deciding to repair some of the broken bans with sculpy. The first time nothing came out the bath, it had shattered and gone through the strainer. The second time I increase the thickness of the bans and got 3 bans to come out of the bath only one was full intact. The third time I only increase the thickness by a little bit because the new dimension was starting to infringe on my design. I got two full bans and two split bans. If I was to do the project over again I would get the models printed in wax at the jewelery building. A great learning experience.
