Lewis Hunt : Week 1 Castle

For my concept I wanted to create a castle that was very animated and unlike any I had ever seen.  I started by building the supporting towers.  These were influenced by the designs of the Space Needle in Seattle and the Stratosphere in Las Vegas.  On the platform there is grass growing which is watered by the surrounding towers.  Creating a utopia among a deserted world.  The utopia would be self sustaining and constantly growing.
In my design I started with a line segment and curved points which I connected to a pipe and this gave the model the organic curved forms.  I then created three taurus shapes which are connected to the tower by six extruded rectangles.  I copied this form and rotated it to create the symmetrical frame for the castle.  I then created another extruded rectangle which I set another pipe form on top of.  After this form was complete I fit a sphere and split the bottom half to create the cap of the mushroom.  I then used boolean difference to cut out the doorway.  I also used array polar to add the spheres to the top of the mushroom while keeping them symmetrical.
I chose the materials I did because I wanted the Mushroom Castle to have a very realistic feel.  Also while having it be something that everybody could recognize.
