Zachary Botwick: Week 9 lamp

For this project I wanted to create a low cost lamp which would hang from the ceiling. To make the lamp cost effective I decided to use a 1/4" cardboard a material which can be repurposed from any box. It is a material that can be found anywhere. I designed the lamp around the idea of grouping them together in a minimum quantity of 3. They can be hung at different lengths to create an appealing aesthetic and warmly lit area.

When making the lamp on rhino, I did not use and scripts. I drew the desired curve and revolved it. Using section I created my horizontal planes. I then used planar cure surface. I switched to the top view and created a section which I then polar arrayed. I used pipes to create the notches. When the structure was made, I used make2d to unroll the surfaces for the cutting sheet.

For my renderings, I used mahogany wood for the skeletal structure of the lamp. I searched for cardboard but didn't find the result I needed. I used a light emissive material for the bulb.
