I guess I was inspired by a more Asian style of lamp while creating my design. Initially I didn't want it to be Asian it just kind of happened and I went with it. It's clean and I like the twist effect on a lamp. Ideally, I would prefer it to hand from a surface.
I used a general cube shape and then proceeded to twist it. After twisting, I used a smaller replica to boolean union the same shape out of the original. By using project, i created the flat surfaces over and over again. In the end I piped the individual intersections and then split each one.
While in keyshot, I decided to just go with a simple dark wood color because that's what color I intend on using in real life. I tried to keep a dark environment to support the lamp effect. Since the wood is a nice gloss, the light reflects off of it nicely.
