Benjamin Lieber // Droplet Lamp
The Droplet lamp is an outdoor patio/garden lamp for the home. It's design is inspired from water droplets sitting on the tip of a leaf, shortly before they fall. This lamp will light your garden and patio area on a clear night, a rainy day, and a winter storm. It's form is organic and easy on the eye. The water droplet shape is a form we can all relate to and recognize, it's a comforting object amongst the most beautiful part of your home.
My design process went very smoothly and I found the idea come to me pretty quickly. I spent a lot of time refining my curves and perfecting the fit of each piece. I had a very specific idea in my head of the materials I wanted and stuck to them. The lamp frame is a light brown wood, the cord is red and cloth covered, the socket is titanium, and the light is an Affinity LED low-energy bulb.
The building process went smoothly as well, it took about two hours to get the whole thing sitting right and locked in place. Overall I am definitely satisfied with this product and would like to make another one about twice the size. I find the waffle design to be aesthetically inviting and comforting.
