Paige Roche: Week 9-Namasté Lamp

The Namasté Lamp is a great item for relaxation rooms featured in spas or your very own home. Within a relaxation room you want to keep things simple, soothing, de-cluttered, and nature based. This lamp will be a perfect fit for your calming sanctuary! If you are unaware of the meaning of 'namasté' it is "my soul honors your soul. I honor the place in you where the entire universe resides. I honor the light, love, and truth, beauty & peace within you, because it is also within me. In sharing these things we are united, we are the same, we are one." (unknown)

In Rhino, I messed around with many different curvatures and shapes while designing my lamp. I came across a lot of difficulty while laying out my design. I manually exploded/extended and then curve booleaned each slat for the lamp which was repetitive but informative at the same time. Even though this assignment had a great level of difficulty, it was great practice. Laser cutting is a key aspect while designing in Rhino which is important that we learn and implement the precise way.

For printing purposes I wanted my wood to be dark based. I plan to use a nice stain over my wood to give it the effect that I am going for. Therefore, in Keyshot I used the 'dark wood' and 'herringbone-dark' effects for my vertical and horizontal slats. I chose two different colors/types of wood to give my lamp variety and depth. I am very pleased with how my design turned out and eager to put my lamp together!
