The hive lamp was inspired by organic shapes in nature such as a beehive, as well as more organic contours commonly seen in biomimicry sculpture. Through my form explorations, I evolved my creative process into the final form used for my waffle structure.
In order to create the shape I revolved a contour line and booleaned differenced a hole through the middle. I then used the contour command to create my cross sections and proceeded to execute the "cut my ribs script" to notch my surfaces. Then I unrolled my cross sections cleaned up my curves and sent my file to the laser cutter. The overall process of this project was very fun. I look forward to using this technique in the near future.
