Marcus Van Gorden-- Mouse

For my mouse I wanted to do something that was both simple, and capable of complex tasks like swipe recognition and hot keys. That idea evolved into a touchscreen smart mouse that can be reprogrammed by the user for custom keys and icons of their choosing.
The two standard buttons are in the middle and a scroll feature is added by swiping your fingers down the face of the mouse like on a track-pad. I also wanted it to be able to fold over into a slimmer device for easy travel and so the screen is protected during transport.
For my materials I used aluminium for the housing, and a metallic paint with a thick clear coat to try and create the appearance of a touchscreens off black shiny appearance. I created an ellipsoid for the laser component and made it a dark clear plastic, next I made the "laser" itself out of a 10W red area light. finally I rendered it with passes to intensify the contrast.
