Benjamin Lieber // Lobby Chair

The lobby chair is a sleek, reserved design to fill the space naturally in a hotel lobby. These chairs will change material based on what interior design has done to the room. This chair is made of ash wood.

Designing this chair wasn't too difficult, just a few different curves extruded, capped, and joined together. This project was nice to do because we haven't done any kind of furniture yet. We have looked at products that are hand held and this requires looking at the shape of the whole body.

Overall I enjoyed taking some time to make this extra credit chair. I would like to sit down and spend a week or two on rhino making different chairs and challenging myself to make shapes that aren't as easy. I've enjoyed this class and feel sufficient in Rhino now thanks to Professor Scott.

  1. The chair needs to use tubes as the dominant element in the design.
