Week10: Ryan Quinn, Gianni Yarto: Kite

The inspiration for this kite was geometric patterns. Also we were influenced by manta rays and horseshoe crabs. For our color choices we want something bright that would give a good contrast against the blue skies of Tybee.

We used mostly duct tape and BoleanUnion to create the base of the kite. It was all held together by a couple PolyLines that were piped out of wood. Finally we used a series of Poly Curves to create a spool of string.

Our color choices were fairly simple but created a nice contrast. The kite had a brief flight before it graciously crashed back down to the cruel, cold, and wet sands of Tybee Beach. With lighter winds and perhaps more line the kite would've flown to its hearts content.
