When designing my lamp, M-TAL 1.0, I thought
about what design will fit perfectly in a bed-sitter where there is not much
space, but there is need of light source. The design a rounded asymmetrical shape
to keep it more interesting and aesthetic.
When designing my lamp I first
used curve revolve to create the main shape of the lamp. From there I sectioned
seven curves horizontally and six curves vertically. I utilize the pipe method
to create the section for the laser-cut pieces. For giving the design a
material I extrude surface to give it dimension and volume. When choosing my materials in Keyshot, I went with a single wood Ash. I decided to go with that because for the final and printed lamp I’m using a single wood for the entire lamp and the wood it’s really light. For the environment I went with a dark studio, for the lamp not only to be the central point but the main point.
More than a lamp.
