Ailsa Petrie Week 7: Curvy Lamp

Lamp w/ lights on

Lamp w/ lights off
I wanted my lamp to be an organic shape so I used an uncommon curve and rotated it to make an interesting shape. I really didn't have a specific inspiration, I just wanted to experiment with different organic curves and see what sort of lamp they created once I used the Contour and sections command. This ended up to be the shape I liked the most out of the curves I tested out. I deleted some of the horizontal supports because there were so many and I wanted them to be distributed evenly but with different sized circles.

As said before, I made a curve, rotated it 360 degrees and then used the contour and sections command to break it up. I then used the cut my ribs script and then extruded each of those ribs to .25.

I wanted my lamp to reflect a wooden material that I used in real life. Ideally I would want it to made out of a fine wood, so I used red oak and adjusted the brightness of the wood and the grain.
