Laser Cut Light Off
Laser Cut Light On
Render 1
Render 2
I was inspired by the medieval torches that you can see in Game of Thrones and i thought that it would be interesting bringing a more moder touch to the design. The basic shape is the same but it has more smooth edges and shapes on the supporting walls.
I created a simple shape with the curve tool and used revolve to create a polysurface that i could work with. I then used the section tool to create the horizontal pieces of my lamp. I drew a line in the top won tow over the polysurface to get the vertical pieces and used array polar to get symmetri in the pieces. I projected the top curves to get the final shape and then I created a planar surface that I later used the cut my ribs script and the massive unroll to get the cut-out sheet for the laser cutting.
I chose to have walnut in the Render because I like the dar brown color and how it looks luxurious. However I user plywood for my physical lamp, and the burned edges from the laser cut with the light colored wood work really well together, they create a really nice contrast.
