Melissa Shuford Tree Light

For this project I was inspired by the material. I love wood and I wanted to feature this love of wood. I thought a tree would be the best way to do this. I also hid a heart in the center where the light bulb rests.

For this project I first used the line tool and fillet tool to get my desired shape before then revolving it around a center point. I then used the cut my rib script and cut out the ribs and did minimal fixing to insure they were all cut right. After that I then went and sized it and used the unroll script to lay it in a boundary that was the size of the wood and made sure everything fit before checking all my ribs. After that I exported the needed flat information to the file for laser cutting and extruded all my pieces to the proper size so they could render. For the lightbulb I quickly drew the shape and revolved it then piped two lines to create the cord.

For the rendering I chose to go simple. The light bulb is just an emissive white that I turned up till it illuminated properly. As for the wood I chose a lovely cherry wood.

If I was to fix one thing in my final project besides fixing edges, I would make the access hole to the light bulb just slightly larger.
